Pay 2022: Campaign Archive
By June 2022, living costs were rising at an alarming rate and beginning to seriously impact workers at NatWest Group following a business as usual pay rise earlier that year.
Earlier that summer, Unite negotiators at Lloyds Banking Group successfully negotiated a £1,000 cost of living payment for workers. Following this, and with increasing numbers of members approaching us outlining their genuine financial hardship, the Unite pay team approached NatWest Group with the same request.
This newsletter was first published in June 2022. With it, we began to move away from purely text-based newsletters and to experiment with more visually appealing and less corporate looking communications. This was a learning process for us, but the original newsletter is below and the full text follows.

Many workers across NatWest/RBS are telling us that they are struggling more than ever to make ends meet. Last week Unite won a £1000 rise for workers in Lloyds we are now calling upon NatWest/ RBS to do similar and support their workers.
With this success in mind and against the worst cost of living crisis in decades your NatWest National Company Committee wrote to the bank on 13th June requesting they reopen pay negotiations to discuss how the bank can help all their workers at this time. As part of our regular meetings with the bank’s pay team we are hopeful to get further updates on any measures the bank proposes to help their hard working employees in these unprecedented times.
We will of course keep you updated on exactly what the bank proposes to do in order to help you.
COME ON NATWEST/RBS, DO THE RIGHT THING AND PAY YOUR WORKERS
